Perhaps the Busiest so Far
Psalms 139:13-14 came up on the YouVersion bible app this morning as the scripture of the day. It’s one we’ve all heard, some of us many times. I shared it with the kids as a reminder of what was in God’s mind when He created us.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
The kiddos in my house are in the midst of adolescence or very near to it. So many discouraging thoughts invade their minds during this time: “I’m no good”, “I’m worthless”, “I don’t have what it takes”, etc. It’s a constant barrage from the evil one through these years. I had to remind them that God has never said these things. God never said, “I messed up when I created you.” Fearfully and wonderfully made it says. And His works (you and I) are wonderful. I love how scripture can destroy lies. I’m thankful His word is so powerful.
Misty and I are closing in on 10 years being here at Shiloh. To say the least we’ve been busy most of the time. A houseful of kids will do that. These last 2 months, however, were CRAZY BUSY! We had a kid in high school softball, one in cross-country, one in middle school football, one high school football, and one in high school cheer. BUSY!! In the month of September there was one evening with no game to go to. So far in October, there’s been 4 evenings with no games. BUSY!! Lots of traveling. But I love it! I love seeing the kids excel in what they enjoy. It’s great to have kids that have earned trust to participate in extracurricular sports. Bella is a junior at South Shelby High School. She’s lived with us for over 5 years now. She started at short stop on the varsity softball team. She also played catcher as well. The Ladybirds season ended after losing the 2nd game of districts recently. They had a great season and were a lot of fun to watch. Bella had a powerful bat and great glove all season. Enough to earn her 2nd team all-conference infield. She won’t show it but she’s very proud of that, and so are we. She also won’t show how proud she is that this Monday evening when she was inducted into the National Honor Society at South Shelby. We are thankful we get to be part of all these things. Basketball starts real soon for her. Prayers for Bella please.
Brooklynn is also a junior at South Shelby. She’s lived with us for over two years. She is on the cheer squad there. She cheers for the varsity football games and will soon start basketball cheer. She loves it and she’s great at it. A few months back she competed in an All-American Cheer event. Through that competition she was invited to attend the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Hawaii. Misty and I will be going with her this December. We’re pretty excited about that! Brooklynn does great in school academically. We are thankful she lives with us. Prayers for Brooklynn please.
Samentha is a freshman at South Shelby. She lived with a family here at Shiloh for three years prior to coming to our house. She’s lived with us for three months now. We are so grateful to have her in our house. She works hard at school. Her 4.0 GPA proves it. She also works hard at cross-country meets. She continually finishes in the top 10 at every meet. She also improves her finish time nearly every meet as well. She really excels at running. She recently rolled her ankle and had to miss her last meet, but her ankle is doing much better now, and she’ll begin to compete again. Prayers for Sam please.
Ethan is a Sophomore at South Shelby. He’s lived with us for three years now. He has been very busy with football. He dresses for the varsity team, got in on a few plays, but most of his playtime was on the JV squad. He also enjoys playing the snare drum in marching band. He talks a lot more about band than football. So, we’ll see how he continues on the grid iron in his last years of high school. Prayers for Ethan please.
Devin is a 7th grader at South School Middle School. He’s lived with us since he was three years old. He played middle school football this fall. Their season just came to a close last week. He never said much about whether he enjoyed playing football, but I think he liked it. He was probably thinking more about fishing, which is what he enjoys most. He does well in school. He’s growing right up. Prayers for Devin please.
Kendall is a 6th grader at Shiloh Christian School. He’s lived with us for over two years. Kendall’s circumstances prior to coming to Shiloh didn’t allow for good academic learning. This resulted in him being behind in his learning. Going to our on-site school has helped him tremendously. He has expressed many times how much he likes going to our on-site school. He wants to be truck driving when he grows up, he says. He’s a great kid. He’s all boy. Prayers for Kendall please.
Larry is a 5th grader at Tri-County Christian School in Macon, MO. He’s a sibling to Devin (mentioned above) and Julianna, who is 4th grader at Tri-County. Julianna and Larry have lived with us since they were one and two. Both are growing right up. With both around there’s never a shortage of conversation or dull moments. Larry likes to read and proves to be very smart. He’s also very comical. Julianna is your biggest fan, even if she doesn’t know you. She’ll loves learning all the South Shelby cheers that her big sister Brooklynn knows. Prayers for Julianna and Larry please.
Misty and I are so thankful for the last nearly ten years of our lives here at Shiloh. We are blessed. We are blessed by all of you who pray and give. Our prayers are that God shows the same blessings to you and your church.
Thank You!
