I Thought I’d Give You Just a snapshot of What Love Looks Like Around Shiloh…
During the month of February, we tend to talk about the word “LOVE” a lot. Sometimes it’s just thrown around like “ I LOVE pizza!” or “ I LOVE your outfit!”….and “ I think that cute guy over there LOVES me!” (you can tell we’re around kids a lot, can’t you?!).
I thought I’d give you just a snapshot what love looks like around Shiloh…in real life….
……LOVE looks like getting up at 5am to read God’s Word and pray over the children in our homes…. while it is actually calm and quiet.
…….LOVE looks like making sure our kids are provided three meals a day (AND their favorite “meals” …. after school snack and “bed night” snack!!).
…….LOVE looks like displaying artwork kids have proudly made even when you can’t quite make out what it is…it still goes up on the art wall!
…….LOVE looks like teaching our kids responsibilities through chores like feeding the animals on site or doing dishes….and yes, even when they don’t “feel like it” … everyone pitches in somehow.
…….LOVE looks like asking how things went at school then being prepared to truly listen to a detailed recounting of every conversation from some …while comforting others through the disappointment that went on that day (and with so many kids, all THAT can take a while!).
……..LOVE looks like doing fun traditions like teaching kids how to fish or hunt…. or silly games together even when they really don’t want to play but you know they’ll have fun anyway…. or FRIDAY NIGHT/PIZZA NIGHT/ MOVIE NIGHT! (Making the pizzas homemade is the best!).

…….LOVE looks like being able to be dependent on each other as caregivers, coming to each other’s aid at a moment’s notice, giving prayer support even if it’s on our phone chats, stepping in and stepping up wherever we can help one another … our location of houses doesn’t just make us close in proximity.
……LOVE looks like getting out of your comfort zone … whether it’s learning how to cook food to feed an “army” on a regular basis or learning how to deal with situations you’ve never faced before knowing God’s got ya through it all!
…….LOVE looks like Jesus in so many ways. Our prayer is that we do just that with our children AND with each other….
…….LOVE looks like what YOU all do to allow us the resources, our homes, and prayer support to be able to do just that! LOVE is not just a word to speak….but an action word (now the teacher in me is coming out!)….it is seen in what it does and how it happens to change lives……and that is what we strive for daily….not just to say we LOVE here at Shiloh, but to BE LOVE LIKE JESUS LOVED.

In His love, Ken & Beth Penfield
