We Continue to Grow in Numbers at SCS…Both in Students and in Staff

The past few months already seem like a blur! Crammed in a lot of fun winter crafts, acts of kindness, serving at food pantry, and more! Busy but blessed!!!

Ken and I had the wonderful experience of representing Shiloh at the International Conference on Missions which was held in Atlanta in November. We enjoyed seeing people we have served with in past years as well as meeting many new missionaries in the  process.  Think  one of my favorite things was getting to share some of our experiences with our school  students  and  staff.  We had collected a bag of literature, free giveaways, videos and pictures, stories, etc. which we set up one day to discuss missionaries. We set up a display of the variety of ministries represented there for them to see the vast variety of those who serve. They got to select literature and keepsakes of those they would pray for. There were a lot of questions about the types of missionaries from around the world and how God can use them. Praying it all sticks in their hearts and they realize that yes…. God can also use THEM …in a variety of ways!!!

We continue to grow in numbers at SCS…both in students and in staff.  We now have three classrooms and a tutoring room to accommodate the variety of students’ needs. Mrs. Mason and Mr. Jones work with our older boys, Ken now has a classroom with our younger boys, and I work with our girl students and our newest staff member, Wanda Darling, who helps me keep up with scoring students’ work. Mrs. Gardner pulls out students on a regular basis for extra guidance and specific weak areas they need help on.

Our homeparents also help out wherever and however needed… whether teaching PE (thanks, Mr. Stark!!) or helping drive kids to our area libraries…speaking at chapel…or covering for Ken and me when we have time off. Yes, it DOES take a village! Seventeen students may seem small to some but when we are trying to meet each individual student where their abilities and needs are, helping them catch up to where their potential is, as well as helping them become a stronger person, not just as a student. But as a healthy human being….that’s a huge responsibility….but one we LOVE to do.

We do it because of that word again….LOVE. We want each student to feel they are loved and welcome, not bullied or judged……to see us as a staff that represents Jesus in our talk and our walk….to live out as Jesus LOVED…..so THEY can learn, can live, and LOVE as He did!
